Dr. Uzi Arad
Dr. Uzi Arad is currently Chair of Israel's Grand Strategy Forum and Senior Visiting Fellow at INSS. He was National Security Advisor to Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu and Head of Israel’s National Security Council (2009-2011). During Netanyahu’s first term as PM, Prof. Arad served as his Foreign Policy Advisor. In the intervening years Prof. Arad had been on the faculty of IDC, where established and presided over the “Annual Herzliya Conference Series”. He also founded Israel's Atlantic Forum. Between 1975 and 1997 Arad served with Mossad, holding senior positions in Israel and abroad, including Director of Intelligence. Prior to joining government, Arad had been with the Hudson Institute. He co-authored "Grand Strategy for Israel", “The National Security Council: The Struggle to Reform Decision Making at the Top”, “Sharing Global Resources”, and editor of “The Balance of Israel's National Security and Resilience”. Prof. Arad holds MA and PhD from Princeton (1975), which he attended as a Fulbright Scholar. Arad served in Israel's Air Force. In 2013 he was awarded the rank of Officer of the French Legion of Honor.
