Plutarchos Sakellaris
Plutarchos Sakellaris is Professor at Athens University of Economics and Business. From 2008 to 2012 he was Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), where he was in charge of Risk Management, the Economics Department and the Bank’s activities on energy. Prior to joining the EIB, Professor Sakellaris held the position of Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers at the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance. He was a member of the European Union’s Economic and Financial Committee and of the Euro Working Group. He served as Deputy to the Finance Minister at the Eurogroup and ECOFIN Councils of the E.U. and as Alternate Governor for Greece at the World Bank.
He has also served as Staff Economist at the Federal Reserve Board and as Visiting Expert at the European Central Bank. He currently serves as Non-Executive Director at various listed and Private Equity – backed companies. He graduated from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Economics and Computer Science, summa cum laude, with Highest Honors. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
