Graduate from Athens University – School of Economics (POE) 

He worked at the family shipping business “Thenamaris” from 1968 to 1990

In 1991 he established in Glyfada his own shipping company ‘Eastern Mediterranean Maritime Limited’ (Eastmed).

Eastmed manages and operates a fleet of 73 tankers, dry bulk carriers and container vessels, while it has on order 5 newbuilding vessels and has 180 people shore personnel in Glyfada and 2,500 crew onboard its vessels out of which 300 are of Greek nationality.

-Member of the Board of Directors of the American Farm School of Thessaloniki

-Member of the Union of Hellenic American Educational Foundation (HAEF) – Athens College

-Founding Member of ‘SYN ENOSIS’ of the Union of Greek Shipowners, a company offering social services 

-Member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Asia Minor studies

-Archon of the Orthodox Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople

He is married to Marina since 1974 and they have two daughters Georgia and Marina. 

They both support social benevolent causes mainly in Greece through their family foundations ‘AIGEAS’ and ‘THE THANASSIS AND MARINA MARTINOS FOUNDATION’.
